SASHA JANCIC - PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION - RETROSPECTIVE
Sasha was born in Belgrade, Serbia on April 4th 1963. He studied violin at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Serbia before moving to Germany, where he a earned the prestigious position of Concertmaster at the orchestra in Trier which he held for eight years until he moved to the United States.
Since 1995, he has been living in the United States, performing as a violinist, working as a freelance photographer and adventure motorcycle tour guide.
Since an early age, he started experimenting with his father's camera in an effort to assemble a more beautiful collection of family pictures. He soon became intrigued with the prospect of freezing both the appearance and aura of a moment in time, developing his unique ability to display people in their most authentic mode.
During his extensive travels through the national parks of the US as well as through different African countries, such as Swaziland, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and South Africa he accumulated a brilliant documentation of nature and people, capturing the heartfelt spirit of each moment. Experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other communities and other countries and seeing the beauty, and sometimes the ugliness, of the world helped him to understand that all of our lives are at once interconnected and individual but beauty is universal and it's for everyone.
Sasha Jancic's photos capture the genuine grace and charm of his objects. For him, beauty is manifest everywhere.
His marvellous visual perception combined with his impeccable sense of timing produces exquisite images that are otherwise easily overlooked in our fast paced lives.
His work has been published in Serbia, Germany, US and his photographs have been printed on the front cover of the BMW – USA Riders Magazine and enhanced journey logs in Serbian issues of Travel Magazine.
Janicic currently lives in Pennsylvania. He is a father of three children. He is also a member of the Philadelphia Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra.
